PRIVATE YACHTS (SAILING AND MOTOR VESSELS)
All visiting yachts require clearance on arrival and departure by customs & quarantine.  Customs act on behalf of Immigration in most ports throughout PNG.  Private vessels less than 20m can normally be exempted from the requirement of Customs officers travelling aboard whilst the vessel is in PNG waters, however vessels in excess of 20m that carry a professional Captain and Crew with passengers must fully comply with all requirements including the appointment of an Agent, all  crew and passengers must have valid passport and visa for PNG.  On arrival an itinerary must be provided and a customs officer is required to travel aboard the vessel throughout the voyage in PNG until clearance is given for departure.  The cost of the agent, customs officer including all travel expenses are to be paid for by the ships captain.
